Great Reads

I have just finished reading March by Geraldine Brooks. The author has used a flashback approach to tell the story of Mr. March, the fictional father of Alcott's Little Women, who has left the family in Concord to become a minister to the Union troops in the Civil War. As he writes cheerful letters to Marmee, he does not mention the brutal conditions of living with the soldiers during their campaigns throughout Virginia.
